Exhaust and emissions

From the manifold to the tailpipe

Exhaust systems, certified catalytic converter replacement and emissions repair for gas and diesel.

Loud, rattling, or throwing a code

Exhaust trouble announces itself three ways: noise, smell, or a light on the dash. A pipe or muffler with a hole in it gets louder every week. A leak ahead of the tailpipe can bring fumes toward the cab. And a failing catalytic converter usually shows up as a check engine light, a rough or sluggish engine, or both.

The converter is rarely the real story. A misfire, a leaking injector or a sensor reading wrong can overheat or foul one, so replacing it without finding the cause just starts the clock on the next one.

Certified converter replacement, gas and diesel

The shop at 1706 W Broadway is certified in catalytic converter replacement and holds a state emissions gas and diesel certificate. Both words matter on the same bay floor: the same ASE-certified master technicians who work on a gas V8 also work on diesel trucks, including the 2007 Cummins 5.9 a customer wrote up after a full rebuild.

It starts with a diagnosis on the latest diagnostic equipment: read the code, look at the data, walk the exhaust from the manifold back, and find where it is leaking or restricted. You get a same-day free estimate before any part is ordered, so you can decide with the facts in your hand.

Making the repair stick

When the cause behind a failed converter gets fixed first, a new one has a fair chance of lasting. That is the difference between a repair and a part swap, and it is the question our technicians ask before they quote.

Exhaust and emissions work carries the full parts and labor warranty: 12 months or 12,000 miles, nationwide. If the job needs a day or two, the shuttle service is there, and we send text updates while your vehicle is in the shop.

What the exhaust is trying to say

Moses Lake WAGAS DSL
  • A deeper, louder note under the floor

Typically a hole in a pipe or muffler, or a leaking joint ahead of it.

  • A rattle that shows up over bumps

A loose hanger or a heat shield, or loose material inside a converter or muffler.

  • The check engine light, on or flashing

A code is stored. Read it first, then find what set it, before any part is bought.

  • Exhaust smell inside the cab

A leak ahead of the tailpipe. Worth having looked at the same day.

A check engine light often starts with the engine, so the same visit may touch engine repair or, on a work truck, diesel repair. For a larger bill, ask about repair financing. The service desk is at (509) 765-7863, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
